How a new guild gets started without chaos.

This page explains the complete setup flow for guild leadership, officers, and members. The current model is Discord-first, so nobody needs a separate account before they can get in.

1. Add the bot to Discord

  • At least one channel name should contain `sim` so SimC posts are recognized.
  • The first user actively using the bot is pre-registered as the guild owner for that Discord guild.
  • Actual sims only run after the guild has been activated in Raider Tools.

2. Activate the guild

  • A platform admin opens the guild in the admin area and sets it to `active`.
  • After that, members can post SimC exports and officers can prepare additional users.

3. Invite users

  • `!login` sends the user a magic link via Discord DM.
  • `!create @user` pre-creates a Discord user in user management.
  • `!invite @user` creates the user and sends a login link immediately via DM.

4. Assign roles

  • Platform admins manage global permissions in `Users & Roles`.
  • Officers only manage their own guild, approve members, and create login links for that guild.
  • Regular members do not need extra setup. Discord is the primary identity.

Platform admin

Can see all guilds, activate guilds, assign global roles, and review the full audit log.

Officer

Can only manage the assigned guild, approve/deny members, and create login links for that guild.

Member

Can sign in through a Discord magic link and then use the areas that were enabled for them.

Important Discord commands

!login sends a 15-minute login link to yourself via DM
!create @user pre-creates a Discord user inside the guild
!invite @user creates a user and sends the login link right away via DM

Tips for the first live day

  • Users should first make sure Discord DMs from the server are allowed.
  • If a magic link looks expired immediately, just send `!login` or `!invite` again.
  • If something breaks, check `ops.raider-tools.com` first: bot, worker, and sim API must all be running.
